MoodJournal · Last updated: August 6, 2026

Thank you for using MoodJournal. A diary is deeply personal, and protecting it is our first priority. This policy explains how we handle (and do not handle) your information. In short: your diary stays on your own device by default, and we serve no ads and use no third-party tracking.

1. No account required

2. Where your diary lives

Your mood records and diary text are stored locally on your device only. They never reach our servers unless you actively enable Cloud Backup (see Section 4). Uninstalling the app deletes local data, so please back up first.

3. Optional sign-in

If you choose to sign in (for membership or Cloud Backup), you may use:

Sign-in data is used solely for account recognition, membership entitlement, and backup ownership. You can delete your account in the app at any time (see Section 7).

4. Cloud Backup (optional, members only)

With Cloud Backup enabled, your diary is encrypted and uploaded to our servers, solely to back up and restore across your devices. We do not read or analyze your diary, do not use it for profiling or training, and never share it with third parties (except where legally compelled). You can turn backup off at any time; deleting your account also deletes your server-side backups. Diary text is encrypted on your device with AES-256 before it is uploaded.

5. Server logs

The app contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs and neither generates nor uses any device identifier. When your device communicates with our servers (to sign in, validate a purchase, or run Cloud Backup), those requests leave basic technical logs such as the IP address, the time of the request, and the device type. We retain these access logs only for as long as they are needed to operate the service and diagnose faults; they are never linked to the content of your diary and are used solely for security and troubleshooting.

6. In-app purchases

Membership subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled entirely through Apple App Store in-app purchase. Payment details are processed by Apple; we cannot see or store your payment method. To manage or cancel a subscription, go to Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.

7. Your rights and choices

8. International data transfers

If you use Cloud Backup, your encrypted backup data may be transferred to servers located outside your country or region. Where such transfers occur, we apply appropriate technical and contractual safeguards.

9. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 (or a higher age where required). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in the app. The updated policy takes effect upon publication.
